DAY FOUR Josh Lyons Symposium
First day of the rider clinic..what a day. If you came and you thought you were here just for the party, well I'm
sure you changed your mind pretty darn fast! To gain a little, you have to do a lot! And a lot we did today!
As Josh mentioned, there are a lot of emotions one will go through in a clinic like this and he's right. I have to say though
that I did a lot of smiling. I was so surprised at how well Chelsea responded and how he helped me to make sense
of the exercises he asked us to do. At one point, Josh rode chelsea to show me a particular exercise and he had her doing it in
minutes and then it carried over to me like a piece of cake! ;)
There are 15 riders in this clinic and they are different disciplines from dressage, to barrel racing. It obviously doesn't
matter what you ride, the principles will always be the same!
The clinic starts with just you and a halter and lead rope. He talks about hands, and how to be more in tune to
what we are doing with them. Not long after we got into the riding. With 15 riders plus two, Josh and Laurier, you can imagine
what the arena was like. However, it worked out well and it seems like everyone came out feeling positive.
We sure learned a lot and hope that for tomorrow, we both retain what we picked up. Sorry, not so many photos today,
hard to do when riding. I'm going to get someone to switch with me to takes some pics of us and I of them, so least I'll
have a bit more to show.
